Ireland
The Celtic Experience

Ireland is a country one falls in love with immediately and can never forget. It may seem small but can offer much to anyone who wants to discover and dive into the environment. This is Ireland as I see it

Western Shore
Dublin for sure is amazing. It is different than mainland Europe, but so charming. Irish people are one of the friendliest I have ever met in my life. However, the country has much more to show that only its capital. And one of the places everyone should visit, in my opinion, is the Cliffs of Moher
I was in Ireland only for a few days (unfortunately), however, I couldn`t resist the idea of going on a day trip to the western shore of the country. Cliffs of Moher is a place surrounded by dozens of legends, a place where movies like Harry Potter were filmed, a place that won`t leave anybody untouched. A single look at this giant structure can bring a full scale of emotions to anyone. It is at such places that you understand how truly powerful nature is. Those cliffs deserve words like “breathtaking”, however, it is also a place where many people commit suicide. There is a legend, that the souls of those individuals become birds and are not allowed to leave for the afterlife. According to our guide, we were very lucky to see the cliffs in both, fog and sun. This is a place you want to come back to over and over again. To be fascinated by the mighty nature. To be flown away by the fresh wind of freedom. To look at the endless sea, thinking about life.

One can choose different routes to visit cliffs, and I would very strongly recommend visiting Galway as part of the journey. I would even say that it deserves no less attention than Dublin. If you think the name of the city is familiar, you probably have heard it in the song from Ed Sheeran – “Galway Girl”. After visiting it, I can say, that this city really inspired and made me want to create something. While going through photos I took in Ireland, I was surprised that almost none of them were from Galway. It left such a big impression on me and only now I realize, that I just enjoyed the city and completely forgot about the camera hanging on my neck. If You happen to be in Galway, make sure to visit the Galway Cathedral. I have seen many churches in various countries, but this one is truly special. I am very much looking forward to visiting Galway again and giving it the attention it deserves.

The capital
While travelling, I am always trying to experience the city, not only the touristic part of it. To make sure this happens, I choose a random dot on the map of the city and walk all the way there, no matter how far it may seem. In Dublin, we encountered interesting sport on the way there
So, I and my companion were just walking around the city. Our tempo wasn`t that high, since his shoes were really uncomfortable, so we could pay more attention to details on our way. It was fun nevertheless. On our way, we found a beautiful park name of which I can`t remember now. Right next to it, there was a field with a bunch of kids playing. Being interested souls that we are, we went to look at it. All the kids were in team jerseys, so it seemed to be a serious match. Up to this day, I have no idea what this sport was, but I suggest it to be some local variation of cricket. Yet, this is the magic of exploring, isn`t it? Finding things you were not planning to find, but ending up remembering them and talking stories of them.

The Lighthouse
Sometimes great memories are created out of a single unplanned thing. This is exactly how it happened at the very beginning of our stay. The Lighthouse story
Since our trip was very limited by time, we didn`t want to waste any of it and right after arrival, we decided to head out and explore. Originally, we were supposed to arrive in Dublin in the afternoon, but our flight got delayed for around 5 or 6 hours and we finally checked in at the hotel in the evening. We were kinda tired, but, when did it stop us? Heading into the dark night, we paced our way to adventures. Quick backstory, few days before departure we were discussing some basic trip ideas, and my companion really wanted to visit the lighthouse at the edge of the city. “Sure”, I said, “why do you want to visit it?”. “Because I have never seen a lighthouse before”, he answered. That wasn`t an answer or reason I was satisfied with, but, I need to admit it looked nice on Google Maps. So, why not?

I have some advice for you, however adventurous you are, it is probably worth it to check how long it takes to the destination you want to visit. Since it was getting late at night, it could`ve helped us. Halfway there, there was not even a pedestrian road and almost no lights, so the second advice is to check if the route even exists. At such an hour we didn`t hope to meet someone and ask if we were heading the right way. But we walked forward, and after a fair bit of time we saw an entrance to some factory, and there was a guard nearby, so we didn`t hesitate to approach him. On our question, if the lighthouse is this way, he vocalized that we are very strange fellas, walking there at an hour when nothing will be visible. I said that on Google Maps it was written that it is opened nonstop, so, once again, why would it stop us?!. He directed us where to go, and the idea of turning back didn`t appear in our heads.

The guard also warned us to be careful, since we could slip into the sea if the rocks are wet. Not the greatest motivation we could`ve heard. It was later that we realized, that this also was a place where people commit suicide, and at the “entrance”, there was a table with an offer of help. Please, whatever is happening in your life, if you need help, seek it, and it will become better. Stay strong, however hard it may be. After another half an hour of walking, we arrived there. And it was pitch black. Well, technically once in a while, it was shining, it is a lighthouse after all, but no view other than that. It was beginning to freeze at that time, but he wanted to make great photos so it took a while. I was freezing. He was enjoying the lighthouse. It was fun, and I would`ve done it again.
